TANGAIL: The voting in by-elections of Tangail-8 constituency is progressing peacefully from Saturday morning amid tight security.

Voters started casting their votes at 8:00 am and will continue till 4:00 pm at a stretch in Basail-Sakhipur electoral area.

The presence of the voters increased as time passed though low turnout of voters was seen at the very beginning.

Around 1,000 law enforcers are in an alert position in the areas to avert any unwanted situations.

The total numbers of the voters in the area are 3,07,382 where 1,45,576 voters are male and rest of others are female.

Four candidates have taken part in the by-elections. They are--- Awami League candidate Anupam Shahjahan Joy with (Boat) symbol, Jatiya Party (Monju) candidate Sadek Siddique with (By-cycle) symbol, AL rebel candidate Abdul Malek Mia with (Deer) symbol and indipendent candidate Dr. Liakat Ali Khokon with (Cock) symbol.

Tangail Police Superintendent confirmed the matter to banglanews.
