DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia alleged that ruling Awami League was only developing their families by looting money of the country.
She also asked the government to show what development work they have done during their regime.
The BNP chief came up with the allegation while addressing biannual council of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) at the National Press Club premises on Saturday afternoon.
The former prime minister also said, “The democracy is now dead in Bangladesh.”
She added: “There is no government in the country, the government is now illegal.”
Khaleda Zia also claimed that the government assumed power unfairly and they are now doing injustice to the people.
Mentioning that the AL government killed 23 journalists, Khaleda told that the situation could be imagined through the speech of journalists from across the country.
Khaleda added: “Not only the journalists, but also people from all classes are not safe during the regime of the government.”
She said that it is necessary to establish government of the people.
BNP Chairperson added the Bangladesh is now being ruled by the direction of other country. Many foreigners are now working here but they had taken permission once while working for a long.
Khaleda also told her audience that the government used to say they are pro-liberation war party, but they don’t even see the war on the field. “They also talk about Razakar while there are many Razakars in the ruling party including former home minister,” she said.
She urged the senior journalists and columnists to write the history of the liberation war for the new generation.
Kamal Uddin Sobuj, president of the National Press Club, Abdul Hye Shikder, DUJ president and BFUJ acting Secretary General M Abdullah also spoke.
