DHAKA: Terming Teesta water sharing agreement a challenge for the government, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday said his party would fight for Teesta water.
The senior BNP leader also observed that Bangladesh should raise the issue to international forum and its people would have to fight for this in the street.
He was addressing a roundtable on ‘Water Sharing of Teesta and Bangladesh Perspective’ at a city hotel as chief guest on Sunday.
The spokesperson for the party also alleged incumbent government is subservient to India.
He added: “It has been signed agreement with India to give transit, transshipment, and facility to use Chittagong Port and approved Rampal power plant as anti state activities but failed to do Teesta agreement.”
Fakhrul further alleged that the government has no problem as it wants to see India as gainer.
“BNP is a pro-people party and it is working for the people by waging movement over Teesta issue but some ministers criticizing our activities,” he said.
