Mahmudur Rahman indicted

DHAKA: A Dhaka court framed charge against Mahmudur Rahman, the acting Editor of Daily Amar Desh, in a corruption case for not submitting wealth statement to Anti Corruption Commission (ACC).

Dhaka Special Judge-3 Justice Basudeb Roy passed the order on Monday noon.

Later, the court fixed May 28 to record the statement of witness.

Earlier on April 17, ACC lawyer Advocate Mosharaf Hossain Kajal appealed to the court for framing charge in the case.

On the other hand, Mahmudur Rahman’s lawyer Advocate Masud Ahmed Talukdar sought time mentioning that the case remained pending for leave to appeal in the High Court.

On April 13, 2013, ACC sent notice to Mahmudur Rahman asking him to submit wealth statement. Later, ACC deputy director Noor Ahmad filed a case with Gulshan Thana as Mahmudur did not respond to the notice.
