DHAKA: Narendra Modi has invited BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman to visit India after he had been sworn in as the 15th prime minister of India on Monday.
Tarique was invited when his greeting message had been handed over to Modi by BJP central foreign affairs secretary BJ Jolie in the evening.
Private assistant to Tarique in London Advocate Humayun Kabir confirmed the matter to banglanews over telephone.
Tarique, who is now in London, in his greeting message said that Bangladesh-India and BNP-BJP relations would be strengthened under the new leadership of the new prime minister of India.
The BNP leader also said to Modi that as India Prime Minister Modi can play vital role in SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation).
Tarique also expressed that the bilateral relation between Bangladesh and India would further congenial by removing all obstacles of the past.
He expressed hope that India would be the best friend of Bangladesh and its people during the tenure of the incumbent government under the leadership of Modi.
