DHAKA: Opposition BNP’s Standing Committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed cautioned that the ruling Awami League would have to pay through its nose for its wrongdoings like repressive measures, as the former law minister rued their own political nemesis.
“The opposition BNP is paying now for the mistakes it had done while in power and so will be doing Awami League in its turn,” Moudud said at a seminar.
Peshajibi Forum organized the seminar on ‘Repression under Remand and Human Rights’ at Jatiya Press Club Friday.
BFUJ president Ruhul Amin Gazi, Dr. Mahbub Ullah and journalist Rezwan Siddiqui also spoke, among others.
Moudud observed: “The way political leaders are being oppressed under remand now could be compared to the torture meted out by Rakkhi Bahini during the 1972-74 period.”
