DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged the nation to take two children in a family ignoring the slogan of one child preferable.
She on Thursday told the health ministry officials during her visit to the ministry.
With the references of the population scenario in the developed countries, the PM said that they had become countries of older people.
She also gave references of her recent visits in two countries.
We want to change the one child preferable policy in our country, she added.
She commented that lack of younger people is seen worldwide.
Mentioning Bangladeshi youth as working force in the world, the premier said that many people think country’s over population a burden. But I do not think so. We should train the manpower to make them human resources.
She further said that the developed countries are changing their population control policy. They are trying to take two to three children.
Health and family welfare minister Mohammed Nasim, state minister for health and family welfare Zahid Maleque and secretary of the ministry MM Niazuddin, among others, were present at the program.
