DHAKA: Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) started mass sit-in in front of National Press Club in the capital on Friday.

They are observing the program protesting the killing by petrol bomb attack during ongoing hartal, blockade called by BNP-led 20-party alliance.

The left parties also declared the program with a demand to save democracy resolving the current political crisis and ban of Jamaat-Shibir politics.

The party sources said the mass sit-in program started around 11:00am and will be continued till 4:00pm.

CPB president Mujahidul Islam Selim and BSD general secretary Khalequzzaman, among others, were present.

Selim demanded the banning of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Shibir from politics and also urged BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia to sever ties with the Jamaat-Shibir.

During the program, he also claimed a democratic election with the participation of all parties which would be possible after dialogue.
