MOULVIBAZAR: Miscreants chopped an activist of Jamaat-e-Islami to death in Kathaltoli Bazar under Borolekha Upazila of the district on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Jalal Ahmed, 33, son of late Mortofa Ali of BOC Kheshrigul village of the upazila.

Victim’s sister Minira Begum told banglanews that 10-15 miscreants kidnapped Jalal from the area and chopped him indiscriminately. Later, the miscreants left him near Madhabkunda Bazar.

Being informed from locals, police rushed to the spot and sent the injured to the Borolekha Health Complex and later, shifted to the Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 6:00am.

Officer-in-charge (OC) Moniruzzaman of Borolekha Thana confirmed the matter to banglanews.

However, a case was filed in this connection. The OC said there is a case against Jalal with Borolekha Thana.
