ISHWARDI (PABNA): Bandhan Khandakar, a Bangladesh Chhatra League leader in Ishwardi upazila, was shot dead in broad daylight in the district on Wednesday.

The victim was general secretary of Muladuli Union unit of ruling Awami League’s student affiliate Bangladesh Chhatra League.

Sources said that a local Awami League leader identified as Badal shot Bandhan at a fairground in presence of many people.

According to the sources, there was strife between the leaders and activists of Awami League and Chhatra League local units over running gambling at a traditional Chaitra fair in the area.

Following the strife, Badal shot Bandhan dead at the fairground in brought daylight.
