DHAKA: Jamaat-e-Islami observed dawn-to-dusk hartal across the country on Monday protesting the execution of death sentence of war criminal Jamaat leader Muhammad Kamaruzzaman without any reported incidents of subversive activities anywhere.

Vehicular movement remained normal in different areas of the country, including Dhaka. Scheduled examinations and classes of educational institutions were also held as usual.
 
However, on Saturday night (April 11), immediately after Kamaruzzaman’s execution, Jamaat called daylong countrywide shut-down for Monday.

He was executed around 10:30pm in the day at Dhaka Central Jail amid beefed-up security.
