BARISAL: Police on Tuesday afternoon arrested Jamaat-e-Islami Barisal city unit secretary Zahir Uddin Muhammad Babar.

He was made arrested from his house in Kalushah Road of the area at 3:30pm in the day.

Barisal Kotowali Model Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Shakhawat Hossain told banglanews that earlier on December 31, 2013, the arrestee injured a detective branch (DB) police constable Jaynal during a Jamaat-called hartal.

However, Jaynal filed a case against three persons, including Babar.

The Jamaat leader was shown-arrested in the case, the OC added.
