Gayeshwar gets bail in a case

DHAKA: The High Court (HC) on Wednesday granted bail to imprisoned BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy in a case filed with Turag Thana.

The HC bench comprising Justice M Rezaul Haque and Justice Khasruzzaman passed the verdict.

Lawyer Nitai Roy Chowdhury moved for Gayeshwar in the court.

On the other hand, the HC bench comprising Justice Nuruzzaman and Justice Zafar Ahmed, on May 5, issued a rule upon authorities concerned to explain within two weeks why it would not grant bail to BNP leader Gayeshwar.

On December 24 of 2014, BNP activists and Chhatra League activists locked into a clash at Bakshibazar area of the city over BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s appearing before the court in Zia Orphanage Trust and Zia Charitable Trust graft cases.

Later, a case was filed with Shahbagh Thana in city as AL lawmaker from Netrokona-1 constituency Chhabi Biswas was attacked in the clash.
