‘BNP fundamentalists’ adviser’

DHAKA: Food minister Advocate Quamrul Islam on Friday alleged Jamaat-e-Islami was the patroniser of all fundamentalist parties, including Hefajat-e-Islam and Ansarullah Bangla Team, of the country while BNP was their adviser.

Quamrul was addressing a discussion meeting, organized by Bangladesh United Islami Party, on the religious leaders’ role in keeping country’s democracy and stability intact at National Press Club auditorium in city around 11am.

He further said those who burn people by hurling petrol bombs in the name of religion cannot be pious people; rather they are using religion for business purposes.

The ruling Awami League leader also said there was no Hefajat-e-Islam in the country now. They were parasites created by BNP-Jamaat.

He also asked the truly pious people and religious leaders to move against the “killers of people”.

The minister also said the government was forming tribunals in each districts to try the petrol bomb attackers.

With Bangladesh United Islami Party chairman Ismail Hossain in the chair, state minister for home Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, AL publicity and publication affairs secretary Hasan Mahmood MP were, among others, present in the meeting.
