DHAKA: BNP has chalked out a 14-day program to commemorate former president and also BNP founder Ziaur Rahman.
The program will include discussions, placing wreaths on Zia’s grave, distributing foods among destitute people, keeping party flag half-mast and wearing black-badge.
BNP joint-secretary general Mohammad Shajahan announced the program at a press conference at party’s Nayapaltan central office on Thursday.
BNP international affairs secretary Dr Asaduzzaman Ripon, organizing secretary Harun-or-Rashid and assistant office secretary Asadul Karim Shahin, among others, were present at the press conference.
Mohammad Shahjahan said they have chalked out elaborate programs from May 28 to June 10 across the country to observe Ziaur Rahman’s death anniversary.
The party will organize a discussion at Engineers Institution auditorium in city on May 28. Party chairperson, also Zia’s widow, Khaleda Zia is expected to attend the discussion as chief guest.
Discussions will also be held in every upazila of the country, he added.
According to Shahjahan, party people will place wreaths on Zia’s grave on May 30. Special prayers will also be arranged on the day seeking salvation of the departed soul.
Moreover, party flags will be kept half-mast on the day at all party offices. Foods will also be distributed among the destitute people across the country on May 30, he added.
