SATKHIRA: Police detained 16 female activists of Jamaat-e-Islami when they were attending a secret meeting in Satkhira district on Wednesday noon.

They were held from the house of a businessman Haque from Old Satkhira area.

Confirming the matter to banglanews Satkhira Sadar Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Emdad Sheikh said, the detainees, who gathered at the house in disguise of attending a milad, were planning about carrying out subversive attacks.

On information, police conducted the drive and nabbed the activists, he added.
