RIYADH: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia will fly to Saudi Arabia Wednesday to perform Umrah and ziarat at the Rauza Mubarak of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).

At the same time, her eldest son and BNP senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman is likely to go Saudi Arabia from London.

Several sources of Saudi Arab and central units BNP confirmed the matter to banglanews.

A leader of Saudi Arab Western unit BNP, wishing anonymity, told banglanews that Khaleda Zia will leave Bangladesh by a flight of Emirates Airlines Wednesday while Tarique Rahman will arrive Saudi Arab from London by another flight.

According to the sources, Khaleda Zia will meet her son at Dubai Airport.

Arafat’s wife and two daughters are also likely to accompany Khaleda during the Saudi tour.

On Wednesday and Thursday, she would stay in Madinah and visit the Prophet’s Roza Mubarak.

 Khaleda Zia will then go to Makkah and perform Umrah. Here she will offer special prayers on Shab-e-Qadr.

BNP chief would be accompanied by her daughter-in-law Zubaida Rahman, granddaughter Zaima Rahman, wife of Khaleda Zia’s elder brother, press secretary Maruf Kamal Khan, special assistant Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas,  her Middle East affairs adviser Enamul Haque, personal photographer Nur Uddin, among others.

The former premier is expected to return to Bangladesh on July 14.
