DHAKA: A leader of Sainik League, a front organization of ruling Awami League, was chopped to death in city at the wee hours of Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Rubel, 35, general secretary of Kafrul Thana Sainik League, and hailed from city’s East Kazipara Bank Colony.

Victim’s friend Roman said Krishak League leader Kamal and several others chopped Rubel indiscriminately in front of his house around 10:00pm, leaving him injured critically.

He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where he died under treatment, he added.

Officer-in-Charge of Kafrul Thana Shikder Shamim Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.
