JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY: Public administration minister and also ruling Awami League general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam ruled out any possibility of mid-term elections in the country.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will arrange national election in due time, he added.

The AL leader made the assertion to the media after a discussion on the 40th martyrdom of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Zahir Raihan Auditorium of Jahangirnagar University on Tuesday.

Syed Ashraf said that there is no provision for caretaker government in the constitution of the country.

There is no possibility of the restoration of caretaker government rule and there is no possibility of mid-term election as well, he commented.

However, Bangladesh Public Service Commission member Professor Sharif Enamul Kabir presented keynote paper at the event attended by Syed Asharaful Islam as chief discussant.
