DHAKA: Ruling Awami League’s (AL) advisory council member Suranjit Sengupta underwent cardiac surgery at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore on Thursday morning.

Doctors had performed Left Atrial Appendage (LAA) Closure Device operation on Suranjit Sengupta’s heart around 6:00am (Bangladesh time), the AL leader’s personal secretary (PS) ATM Moazzem Hossian told banglanews.

He also said Dr TIC Aung and Dr Jess Aung of the hospital performed the operation.

Also the chairman of parliamentary standing committee on law, justice and parliament affairs, Suranjit has been suffering from heart and hematology problems for a long.

After surgery, he has been kept at Intensive Coronary Care Unit (ICCU) of the hospital. After two days, he will be given treatment at hematology department.

The PS also sought dua from countrymen for the leader’s quick recovery.
