DHAKA: State appealed before the appellate division seeking stay on High Court (HC) order that declared Bangabir Kader Siddiqui’s nomination legal in by-poll of Tangail-4 constituency.
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam said that they have already filed a petition challenging HC order.
The hearing on the petition is likely to be held on Teusday at Supreme Court vecation bench justice Syed Mahmud Hossain.
On October 21, the High Court (HC) asked the Election Commission (EC) to accept nomination paper of Kader Siddiqui in the by-polls of Tangail-4 constituency.
The HC vacation bench of Justice Miftah Uddin Chowdhry and Justice Kazi M Ijarul Huq Akand passed the order.
After rejection by the Election Commission to get back candidacy, Krishak-Sramik-Janata League president Kader Siddiqui filed a petition in the HC.
Former attorney general AJ Mohammad Ali moved for the petitioner in the court.
On October 18, the EC has dismissed Kader Siddiqui’s appeal against the cancellation of his nomination for the Tangail-4 by-polls.
