BRAHMANBARIA: A district court on Monday sent 44 leaders and activists, including the president and general secretary of Brahmanbaria unit of BNP to jail in 13 cases filed under explosives, sabotage, attacking police and speedy trial acts.

District and session judge Qawsar issued the order when 46 BNP leaders and activists sought bail after surrendering before the court.

The court also granted bail to district unit Chhatra Dal general secretary and a Swecchasebok Dal leader due to their illness.

Defence lawyer Advocate Shafiqul Islam alleged that the BNP leaders and activists were sent to jail in false cases.
