KISHOREGANJ: A district court on Wednesday sent BNP’s 95 leaders and activists, including its senior vice-president of Kishoreganj district unit Shariful Islam, to jail in 11 cases.
Kishoreganj special judge court magistrate Muhammad Mahubub-ul Islam and additional special judge Muhammad Abdur Rahman passed the order after the BNP men sought bail by surrendering before the court at noon.
As many as four cases were filed with Kuliarchar, three with Bhairab and Kishoreganj Model Thana each and one with Karimganj police stations on charge of arson attack to bus and trains and vandalizing vehicles during the blockades enforced by BNP-Jamaat alliance in January and February this year.
Public prosecutor (PP) Advocate Shah Azizul Haque moved in favour of the case while former PP Advocate Jalal Uddin was the defence lawyer.
