CHANDPUR: Police held eight activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir conducting drives in a student mess on Truck Road in Chandpur town of the district.

The detainees have been identified as Shahkawat (21), Abu Bakar Siddique (18), Tareq Hossain (17), Sultan Mahmud (24) and Alauddin (22) of Hajiganj upazila; Farhad Alam (23) of Chandpur town; Al Amin (22) of north Matlab and Mohammad Sohel (22) of Sadar upazila of the district.

After getting information that the Shibir activists were organizing a meeting to carry out subversive attack, police conducted the drive at 3:00am on Monday.

Chandpur Model Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Mamunur Rashid told banglanews that police also seized a computer and blueprint of subversive attacks from the possession of the detainees.
