JESSORE: Police held 65 people, including 24 leaders and activists of BNP and its major ally Jamaat-e-Islami, from Jessore district.

The drives were conducted from Sunday night to Monday noon in different parts of the district.

Jessore district police control room on-duty police member Mizanur Rahman Mizan told banglanews said among the detainees, one from BNP, 21 from Jamaat and two from Shibir.

According to him, the other detainees are accused of several cases including of creating violence, he added.

Police have regularly been conducting drives to keep law and order situation normal in the area, he added.
