DHAKA: A city court granted a one-day remand for Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) president Rajib Ahsan in an arson case filed with Rampura Thana in city.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Yusuf Hossain passed the order after hearing a 10-day remand plea on Tuesday.

The case investigation official and also detective branch of police sub-inspector (SI) Shafiqur Rahman appealed for the bail.

However, Rampura Thana police filed an arson case against the JCD president following the arson attack on a passenger bus of ‘Pracheshtha Paribahan’ in city’s Malibagh intersection area on February 3 in 2015.

Police arrested the accused on July 19 from Patuakhali district.
