Gayeshwar sent to jail

DHAKA: BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy has been sent to jail after surrendered in a murder case filed with Rampura Thana.

Court of Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge Qamrul Hossain Molla passed the order on Wednesday rejecting his bail petition.

Earlier on Tuesday, the same court has issued an arrest warrant against 35 BNP leaders including its standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and vice-chairman Sadeque Hossain Khoka.

The court also took the chargesheet of a murder case in cognizance on the day.

Earlier on March 29, 2013, one Mansur Pradhaniya was killed due to vandalism and arson attack during the BNP-Jamaat alliance called ‘March for Democracy’ in city.

On March 20, 2015, police filed a chargesheet of the murder case, filed with Rampura Thana, against 49 including Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and Sadeque Hossain Khoka.
