DHAKA: The family members of death row convict war criminal Salauddin Quader Chowdhury reached Dhaka Central Jail in city on Thursday afternoon following the permission from jail authorities to meet the convict here.

A 14-member group was meeting the jail authorities while filing the report.

Earlier, the family sources told banglanews that two sons Hummam Quader Chowdhury and Fazlul Quader Chowdhury sought permission to the jail authorities a few days ago to meet their father.

On Wednesday (November 18), the Supreme Court (SC) upheld death sentence for BNP leader Salauddin Qauder Chowdhury, rejecting his review petition, for his crimes against humanity during the country’s war of independence in 1971.

A 4-member full bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice SK Sinha pronounced its final verdict.

The other members included Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana, Justice Hasan Foez Siddique and Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain.
