7 hurt in Titumir college BCL infighting

DHAKA: At least seven activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) were injured in fighting between two groups of ruling Awami League’s student wing at Government Titumir College in city’s Mohakhali area on Saturday.

The clash ensued on the campus premises when leaders-activists of BCL’s Brahmanbaria faction attacked Gopalganj faction around 11:30am.

Party sources said former vice-president of Titumir College unit BCL Sunny tried to establish his group’s supremacy on the campus though he was sacked from the organization for discipline violation.

During the time, Goplaganj faction of BCL declared him persona-non-grata at the campus. Following the incident, Sunny and his supporters attacked Goplaganj faction, leaving seven people injured.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Banani Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Salauddin told banglanews that on information, police rushed to spot and talked to the leaders of two factions to reach a negotiation.
