One-fourth candidates below SSC

DHAKA: Around one-fourth candidates in the forthcoming Municipal Election did not cross the bar of secondary school, according to affidavits submitted to the Election Commission (EC).

The educational qualification of a large number of the ‘would be’ representatives of citizen got stuck below SSC in their curriculum vitae, said Sushasaner Janya Nagarik (Shujan) at a press conference at DRU Sagar-Runi auditorium on Friday

Shujan has placed this information to media after analyzing the affidavits submitted by the candidates.

According to affidavits of candidates, 224 among the total of 904 candidates did not finish their secondary school. As many as 123 candidates have passed Secondary school.  Some 198 completed Higher Secondary and 215 have completed graduation while 126 post graduation.

However, 18 candidates have not mentioned any educational qualification on their submitted affidavit to the EC.

Shujan secretary Badiul Alam Majumdar, members of its executive committee Dr Hamida Hossen, Dilip Kumar Sarkar have presented the data about the candidates of the forthcoming Municipal Election.
