PATUAKHALI: At least 15 leaders and activists of BNP were injured as a group of local unit activists of ruling Awami League (AL) reportedly attacked on a motorcade of former home minister Altaf Hossain Chowdhury in Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali district on Tuesday.
The injured also included Suraiya Begum, wife of the ex-minister.
The attackers also vandalized five vehicles.
Moreover, the ruling party activists also attacked on the journalists as they reached the place on information.
Banglanews correspondent Zakaria Hriday, Boishakhi TV’s Abdus Salam, Somoy TV’s Sujon Dam, Independent and Janakantha’s Mokhlesur Rahman and Bhorer Kagoj’s Saroj, among others, were also injured in the attack.
Former home boss blamed the AL activists for this attack.
However, on information Kalapara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Jahangir Hossain and Kalapara Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Azizur Rahman visited the spot.
The UNO said that immediate action will be taken against the culprits.
