DHAKA: BNP formally placed the demand of army deployment during the upcoming municipal polls to the Election Commission (EC) in city on Tuesday.
A six-member BNP delegation, led by its standing committee member Dr Abdul Moin Khan, placed the demand to Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad.
The BNP expressed their concern regarding the municipal polls and demanded the government to deploy army.
They also alleged that BNP leaders and activists are coming under attacks during poll campaigns.
However, the CEC told the delegation that they will take decision following the law and order situation regarding the polls.
