MEHERPUR: Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Gangni upazila unit ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Rabiul Islam and BNP leader Yakub Ali in accusation of creating violence in Meherpur district.

They were arrested from the upazila’s Thana Road area Sunday afternoon.

Gangni Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Akram Hossain told banglanews that the law enforces have arrested Rabiul Islam and Yakub Ali in accusation of creating violence centering the upcoming municipality polls.

He further said that Rabiul Islam is accused in three violence cases.

The arrestee has been produced before the court, the OC added.
