JHENAIDAH: Police arrested Kaliganj upazila unit Jamaat-e-Islami secretary Mawlana Shahiduzzaman on Tuesday in Jhenaidah district.

He was arrested from Aarpara area around 2:00pm in accusation of planning violence.

Kaliganj Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Anwar Hossain told banglanews that on tip-off, police conducted the drive as they Jamaat men were in a secrete meeting in the area.

Police arrested Shahiduzzaman though the other Jamaat activists managed to flee the spot, the OC added.

According to him, the Jamaat leader is accused in five violence cases.
