DHAKA: Home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has asserted that legal actions will be taken against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia through legal proceedings.
He, as chief guest, made this assertion while addressing Anti-Drug Debate festival held at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (DFDC) in city on Sunday (January 24) afternoon.
The home minister said, ‘It has come to my knowledge that a sedition allegation has been filed against Khaleda Zia’.
The legal proceeding against her will take place under existing law. Then actions will be taken against the accused lawfully through judicial proceeding, he added.
The festival is being organized jointly by Debate for Democracy and Department of Narcotics Control.
Earlier on January 5, in response to a case field Jananetri Parishad president AB Siddique, a Dhaka court ordered probe into an allegation against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia for defaming Liberation War martyrs.
