DHAKA: Visiting European Parliament (EP) delegation made a courtesy call on BNP chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia on Thursday afternoon (February 11).
The hour-long meeting was held at BNP chief’s political office in city’s Gulshan area.
After the meeting, BNP standing committee member Dr Abdul Moin Khan said that they had talked about politics, economy, security, human rights, law and order situation in Bangladesh at the meeting.
‘We believe on peaceful means to hand over power, which is only possible through a fair election. Obviously, these were discussed with EU parliamentary team,’ he added.
Led by Jean Lambert (Green Party), chair of the delegation for relations with the countries of South Asia, the delegation included vice-chair of the delegation to South Asia Richard Howitt of UK Labour Party, member Ivan Štefanec from the Christian Democrats and Committee on International Trade’s Sajjad Karim of the UK’s Conservative Party.
Among the BNP leaders, acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and chairperson’s adviser Sabih Uddin Ahmed were present in the meeting.
