LAKSHMIPUR: Police detained 13 leaders and activists of BNP and its key ally Jamaat-e-Islami on suspicion of creating violence in Lakshmipur district.

The law enforcers nabbed them from Mandari area of sadar upazila of the district early Tuesday (February 16).

Confirming the matter, Chandraganj Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Azizur Rahman Mia told banglanews that 13 BNP-Jamaat men gathered at the area early Tuesday.

On information, police conducted a drive and detained them, he added.

According to him, arrest warrants were issued against some of the detainees.

Legal s will be taken after gleaning information about the others, he added.
