DHAKA: BNP has demanded the cancellation of ongoing Union Parishad (UP) elections as well as resignation of the Election Commission (EC).
The party’s senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the demands at a press conference at its central office in city Nayapaltan area on Sunday (April 3).
‘EC staff members have directly or indirectly assisted the ruling party candidates in creating rigging and violence during the UP polls.’
According to the BNP leader, presiding officers and even police members have been seen casting false votes in many centers.
‘On behalf of BNP, I am demanding the cancellation of UP polls and the resignation of the EC,’ Rizvi added.
BNP leaders Fazlul Haque Milon, Nazim Uddin Alam and Khayrul Kabir Khokon, among others, were present at the conference.
