HABIGANJ: Three people, including a leader of Jubo League, were killed as lightning struck them on Saturday (April 16) in the district.

The deceased were identified as Abid Ali (22), Ramzan Ali (38) and Shafiqul Alam (30).

Among them, Ramzan Ali was Bullah union unit president of Jubo League.

Locals said that Abid Ali was harvesting in Gungiajuri haor area amid rains at noon. He was injured as a thunderbolt struck him. Later, he was rushed to Habiganj Sadar Hospital where on-duty doctor declared him dead on arrival.

Moreover, thunderbolt struck Ramzan Ali and Shafiqul Alam when returning home at noon. They succumbed to injuries on their way to hospital.

Lakhai Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Mozammel Haque and Habiganj Sadar Thana OC Nazim Uddin informed the matter to banglanews regarding the matter.
