CHITTAGONG: A man was killed by rival group at Bairagi union of Anwara upazila of the district prior to a day of sixth phase UP election.

Local alleged that the supporters of the rival party chopped M Farukh, 35, son of Anu Miah indiscriminately on Friday afternoon (June 3), leaving him critically injured.

Later, Farukh was taken to the Chittagong Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) around 6:00pm.

Hospital police outpost assistant sub-inspector (ASP) Pankaj Barua told banglanews that he succumbed to his injuries after an hour of admission.

Moreover, the whole body bore injury marks, he added.

Anwara Thana sources said the sixth phase election in 11 UPs in the upazila will be held Saturday (June 4).
