DHAKA: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is set to meet the newly announced standing committee on Thursday night (August 18) at her political office in city’s Gulshan area.

She will also meet senior leaders of 20-party alliance on Saturday night (August 20) in the same place.

BNP chairperson’s press wing member Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed the matter to banglanews on Wednesday (August 17).

Earlier on August 6, BNP declared a 19-member standing committee where former commerce minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and Salahuddin Ahmed are the new faces.

However, two positions are still unannounced.

Sources said that the meeting is called on the backdrop of some senior leaders’ dissatisfaction over the committee.

Moreover, the alliance leaders will discuss about the current situation of the country, the sources added.
