GOPALGANJ: Police detained a member of the banned militant outfit Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI) from Khalishpur area of the district early Wednesday (August 24).

The detainee was identified as Mujahidul Islam, 30, son of one AKM Nurul Haque, hailed from Ashutia village under Kotalipara upazila of Gopalganj district.

Confirming the matter, Kotalipara police station office-in-charge (OC) Qamrul Faruk told banglanews that police of Kotalipara station captured Mujahidul from Khalishpur area with the assistance of Khalishpur police station.

According to him, currently, Mujahidul is being grilled at police station.

A case will be filed against the detainee, the OC added.
