DHAKA: The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) will announce its decision on BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury’s verdict leak case on September 15.
Bangladesh Cyber Crimes Tribunal Judge KM Shamsul Alam passed the order on Sunday (August 28) as the accused failed to be present in the court.
Tribunal Special Public Prosecutor Nazrul Islam Shamim confirmed the matter to media.
Earlier on October 1, 2013, International Crimes Tribunal-1 awarded death penalty to BNP lawmaker Salauddin Quader Chowdhury for his involvement in crimes against humanity during the country’s liberation war in 1971.
But before the verdict’s announcement, the BNP leader’s wife and other family members showed ‘copies of the verdict’ to journalists, claiming they had found those documents from internet.
Later, October 2, ICT Registrar AKM Nasir Uddin Mahmud filed a case with Shahbagh Thana.
Besides, on October 4, DB police inspector Fazlur Rahman filed another case in this connection.
On August 28, the court submitted charge-sheet against seven people including Salauddin Quader Chowdhury’s lawyer Barrister Fakhrul.
The other accused are Barrister Fakhrul Islam’s junior lawyer Mehedi Hasan, Salauddin Quader Chowdhury’s manager AKM Mahbubul Hasan, ICT office assistant (stenographer) Faruk Hossain and cleaner Noyon Ali.
Fakhrul was arrested from his Segun Bagicha chamber in the city on November 20. On the following day, the court sent him to jail after rejecting bail plea.
Fakhrul was charged under the Information and Communication Technology Act, 2009 on November 21.
