DHAKA: BNP has declared to hold rallies in Dhaka on Friday and other district towns on Saturday (September 10) protesting the cancellation of Ziaur Rahman’s Independence Award.
Party general secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the program at a press briefing at BNP central office in city’s Nayapaltan area on Thursday (September 8).
“The anti-liberation forces had canceled the Independence Award of Ziaur Rahman who proclaimed the country’s war of independence,” he remarked.
According to him, this decision is also the worst example ever in the political history of Bangladesh.
“It reflects parochial nature of the government.”
Standing Committee members Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, vice-chairman Abdul Awal Mintoo, Ahmed Azam Khan, advocate Joynal Abedin, Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, among others, were present in the briefing.
