FENI: A district court granted a seven-day remand for a member of banned militant outfit Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI) in the case of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina murder attempt.
Feni senior judicial magistrate Jubo Juti Paal passed the order Wednesday afternoon (September 21).
Earlier, police produced the arrestee Abu Obaidah Harun, 35, before the court on Tuesday (September 20) and pleaded for a 15-day remand. The court set hearing date on the following day.
Detective police inspector Abul Kalam Azad told Banglanews that Harun was arrested in murder and violence cases from Feni town on September 19.
Sonagazi police officer-in-charge (OC) said that Harun is a major suspect in the case of assassination attempt of then opposition party leader Sheikh Hasina. He was also accused in seven different cases including of murder, robbery and explosive.
Earlier on August 30, Harun’s elder brother Abu Daud was arrested in suspicion of his involvement in militancy and currently staying in jail in an explosive case.
