FENI: Police arrested a local leader of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, in murder, arms and explosives and sabotage cases from Sonagazi upazila of the district on Wednesday evening (September 21).

The arrestee was identified as Kamrul Islam Prokash alias Shutter Kamrul, former president of Char Majlishpur union unit Chhatra Shibir and son of Nurul Islam Afshar, general secretary of Majlishpur union BNP.

He was arrested from Faziler Ghaat area of the upazila.

Shutter Kamrul is accused in several cases, including attempt to murder of local Swechhasebak League leader Shohag Khayer, who is currently under treatment in a hospital in Dhaka, and son of another leader Nipa.

Sonagazi Model Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Humayun Kabir told banglanews that court issued arrest warrant against Kamrul.
