GAIBANDHA: Police, in an overnight drive, arrested five people including an activist of Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from several places of the district.

The drive was conducted from Monday night (September 26) to Tuesday morning (September 27).

The JMB man has been identified as Abdul Hadi, son of Atuar Mandal of Thengarpara village under Saghata upazila.

However, identity of the other arrestees could not be known immediately.

District police control room operator Asaduzzaman Asad told Banglanews that Abdul Hadi is an active member of JMB and accused in a case under explosive act.

Other four arrestees also faced arrest warrant, he added.

The law enforcers arrested the four from Sadar, Sadullapur, Sundarganj and Palashbari upazilas and the JMP man from Saghata upazilas.

District additional police super (SP) Ashfikuzzaman Akter confirmed the matter to Banglanews.
