RANGPUR: Jatiya Party (JP) chairman and also former president HM Ershad said that his party started campaign for upcoming national election on October 2.
He made the disclosure to the media at Rangpur Circuit House in the district on Monday (October 3).
“The campaign has begun through the offering of prayers to the mazaar of Hazrat Shahjalal (R) in Sylhet.”
Ershad said the campaign is not for any mid-term election. JP is working for the next national election.
“We need two or three years to get ready for next election. JP will make government if the election is held in a fair way.”
According to him, Bangladesh’s boycott of upcoming SAARK summit in Islamabad was a right decision.
He opined that there is no suitable environment for the summit as the two neighbors India and Pakistan are on the verge of a war.
As the both countries have nuclear weapons, there is no chance for war, he added.
