DHAKA: BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed called for constituting an acceptable election commission (EC) by creating a search committee based on opinions from all quarters.

He came up with the call to ruling Awami League’s newly elected president Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and general secretary Obaidul Quader while addressing a press briefing at party’s Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka.

BNP chairperson’s adviser Abdus Salam, joint general secretary Khairul Kabir Khokon and assistant organizing secretary Advocate Abdus Salam were, among others, present at the press meet.

Rizvi also alleged that BNP’s joint secretary general Moazzem Hossian Alal was harassed at airport when he was leaving for Singapore.

Criticizing the speech of Sheikh Hasina that she gave during the AL’s 20th national council, the BNP leader expressed his fear that the next general elections would be rigged.
