DHAKA: International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) framed charge against Mohammad Liaquat Ali of Habiganj and Aminul Islam alias Rajab Ali of Kishoreganj districts, for their crimes against humanity during Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971.
A three-member bench led by ICT-1, led by Justice Mohammad Anwarul Haq passed also fixed December 3 to start trail in this regard.
Prosecutors Rana Dasgupta and Rezia Sultana moved for the state while lawyer Gazi MH Tamim for defense.
Liaquat Ali and Rajab Ali were accused of seven charges including murder, genocide, detention, kidnapping, persecution, rape and looting.
In 1971, Mohammad Liaquat Ali was a Rajakar commander and Muslim League leader in Phandauk union under Nasirnagar Thana in Brahmanbaria district and Rajab Ali was an Al-Badar commander in Ashtagram Thana in Kishoreganj.
During the liberation war, both of them had allegedly committed this crime in the neighboring areas of Habiganj, Brahmanbaria and Kishorganj districts.
On May 18, ICT issued an arrest warrant against Liaquat and Rajab after accepting the formal complaints.
On December 27, 2015, the final investigation reports were submitted to the tribunal.
